Hycult Biotech is happy to introduce their new and unique blocking antibody targeting complement rat C5, now available for preclinical research in rat models!
This new antibody recognizes human, rabbit and rat complement C5. It acts as an equivalent of Eculizumab and recognizes human and rabbit C5. However the affinity for rat C5 is even stronger.
The antibody recognizes intact alpha chain and binds to an epitope distinct from Eculizumab. In haemolytic assays the antibody shows efficient inhibition of alternative pathway as well as classical pathway.
This is successfully demonstrated in a rat prophylactic Myastenia gravis model in which animals were protected from disease and for destruction of the muscle endplates.
